Would you like to explore more of our beautiful surroundings – Why not join the PTA Monday morning walking group?

 By Rachael Bristol-Reid

Hiking shoes and water bottle at the ready I was delighted to join the parents of the La Chat walking group this morning for their first walk of the school year.

Come rain or shine the Group, which has been running for a number of years, sets off every Monday morning to explore the local countryside on foot.

Today’s walk, which I’m told is typical, lasted around an hour through fields and orchards on easy terrain.  It’s planned that the routes will vary from week to week to make the most of our beautiful surroundings.

I got chatting to a few of the parents:

“As a new parent to the school this was my first walk today!  It’s a great way to meet other parents from across both the Primary and Secondary campus’” Year 4, 7 & 9 Parent.

“It sounds silly but I love these Monday morning walks… Hiking through the grapevines, watching the seasons change and seeing close up what usually passes me by when I’m in my car” Year 2 & 4 Parent.

The Group is clearly very social and easy going. You don’t need to walk every week just show up when you fancy.

If you’d like to join, just sign-in at the Secondary reception and meet in the Secondary cafeteria Monday at 0815 – you’ll easily spot the walkers, they are the ones with the sturdy shoes!

For sure I loved the chatter this morning but I also got in a decent workout too!  I look forward to joining you all again very soon.
